'O' Adonai, Come and deliver us with an outstretched arm!

The 'O' Antiphons Advent Study Week 2: O Adonai

O Adonai, and leader of the house of Israel, who appeared in the bush to Moses in a flame of fire, and gave him the law of Sinai: Come and deliver us with an outstretched arm.

Holy Hermit Sr Maria Boulding:

"Flesh is the turmoil of times of change. Flesh is the opaque, ambiguous, messy character of most of our human experience. And flesh is precisely where the paschal mystery operates.”

Gospel:

"For to all those who have, more will be given, and they will have an abundance; but from those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away." ~ Matt 25.29

Epistle:

"bearing the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. For God has destined us not for wrath but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep we may live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing." ~ Thessalonians 5.8-11

Collect prayer:

O Lord our God, you gave your law that righteousness might abound: Put it into our hearts to love justice for others as much as we desire it for ourselves, that, as we know you to be our judge, so we may welcome your reign as it is manifested through Jesus Christ our savior; to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be dominion and praise for ever and ever. Amen.
