Indwelling Holy Spirit

Poem:  'The Descent of the Holy Spirit'   written by Steven Shakespeare

She breathes and beckons formless earth to be; she broods and beauty grows beneath her wings. To those weighed down by fear and slavery she gifts a heart that braves, a soul that sings. She is the change that settles soft as dew, and Holy Spirit, wild as wind and flame; lion-strong and silver-tongued, she speaks anew the Word made flesh who from the Father came. She is the Gift, unowned yet pledged to all: the common wealth that knows not yours and mine, the seal and strength to break the hateful wall, the power to make our weakness all divine. And when in doubt and fear they try to pray, she gives them tongues of fire to wake the day.
