Dear ones,
Our partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of Texas (EDOT) is coming to an end. The EDOT funding, which has supported Holy Hermits Online for several years, will cover our budget until August 2025. Meaning HHO needs to find other sources of income to sustain our mission and outreach.
The budget items needing urgent funding are our staffing costs. The Administration Officer (AO) role (2 days a week) and the clergy package (4 days a week) require extensively more funds than raised by our offertory giving. On average we raised $1700 AUD a month this year. We need to raise $3,500 AUD a month to comfortably support our AO role and see to our other expenses.
(The clergy package is not included in this goal – I am hoping to find additional funding elsewhere for this). More details about the budget can always be found on our Give page.
Our hope is to increase our giving through the HHO community offerings. Which will put us in a more sustainable position for our ministry into the future.
If you are already regularly giving, please prayerfully consider increasing your monthly offertory. If you are not making financial contributions toward our stability and would like to start, please consider enrolling in direct debit and scheduling regular gifts as a commitment to our mission.
If everyone who receives our emails gave $20 AUD a month – that’s $5 a week, we would reach our goal of $3,500 AUD a month. Some will be able to give more others less. Every offertory gift is deeply valued and appreciated as a show of generosity towards God’s digital mission, as well as our community fellowship.
We give thanks for the many who are already generously supporting us each month.

Giving a one-off gift can help to create great momentum too.
Maybe you’d like to consider us as you are drafting up your will. With such a gift you will create a legacy of compassion and hope and allow HHO to continue offering those who can’t engage with Church in person a place to belong.
“I give and bequeath (x) percent of my estate, free from all duties to the Corporation of the Synod of the Diocese of Brisbane for the general charitable and religious purpose of Holy Hermits Online, and the receipt of the Diocesan General Manager shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor or trustee.
I hope that you join me in adding our financial stability to your personal prayers. We will begin praying a sustainability prayer at worship regularly this month too.
This is the first time I have written a letter like this to our community. I trust it will be well received and not cause too much anxiety as we band together.
We have been in hard financial positions before. God made a way, and I am confident that new avenues of supporting HHO’s mission will appear, if we just take the next steps in faith.
I’ll keep you posted with any new developments, and I give thanks for this opportunity for us to increase our generosity as a community, in giving, but also in Spirit.
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” Matt 6.21
May we all treasure this innovative community that God inspired us to build together!
Blessings,
Jamee
Generous God,
We hold before you the financial stability and future sustainability of Holy Hermits Online.
Guide us as we seek to grow our community’s giving, so we may continue the work you have called us to—being together in this digital space.
Show us where to place our energy as we explore new funding sources and fresh opportunities.
Be present with us and those we meet as we reach out to charitable trusts and foundations, inviting their support for our outreach—especially to those unable to get to Church in person.
Stir the hearts of all who believe in this mission to greater generosity, creativity, and commitment.
We thank you for the partnerships you have already blessed us with, especially our home base at St John’s Cathedral.
We pray in the name of Jesus, who lived on mission and said, “If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it.”
Amen.
