The Cathedral Resource Church Initiative is exploring the dual impact of AI on faith communities, examining both its potential to enhance community engagement and accessibility, as well as the ethical concerns and challenges it presents. Read more about the project here.
Holy Hermits Online has been playing with AI more and more over the last year or so and has many uses for these tools in our digital mission space.
We plan to use these workshops to share resources with all that Angie has been doing with the Resource Church Initiative work and that HHO has been doing in the digital faith artists and prayer group spaces.
It will be a chance to experiment in real time using Artificial intelligence, engage in conversation about the place of AI in our digital mission field and explore the ethical, theological and spiritual elements at play.
All are welcome to 'come and see'.
These gatherings will be held in the HHO Worship Zoom space.
The video recordings of the workshops will feature blow the sign up - scroll down.
Heavenly Father, we come before you in this time of rapid technological change, acknowledging the rise of AI as a tool that has been building for generations. We recognize the intensity, capacity, and awareness that AI brings, and we seek your wisdom as we navigate its development and momentum. In the face of fears around centralized control and the power of big tech, we ask for your guidance to ensure that technology is used for peace, justice, and the safeguarding of creation.
Help us to embrace digital literacy and education, and to use platforms like Padlet and Zoom to foster interconnectedness and equitable sharing of resources. May we transform our fears into trust, faith, and hope, knowing that with you, all things are possible. Our hope is in the risen Christ, who goes before us and prepares the way.
In this time of discernment, guide us to make good choices as we pursue our mission and ministry. May we embrace the threshold of opportunity, holding our anxieties with your help. Let your Spirit drive us to respond with contemplation and action, prayer and deeds, using our unique gifts and abilities for the sake of creation justice.
As we co-create and emerge in this new space, may we value the wisdom of the ages and engage in wider conversations with other denominations and faiths. Gather the voices of the faithful, that we may work together for the common good and the flourishing of all creation.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Risen Christ,
You who go before us and prepare the way,
We stand at a threshold—between what has been and what is emerging.
In this liminal space, filled with uncertainty and awe,
we bring before you our hopes, our fears, our longing for justice.
The tools of our time—Artificial Intelligence, vast data,
and the power of technology—offer both risk and possibility.
We confess our anxiety:
fear of control lost to powerful hands,
fear of the unknown,
fear that we might forget our humanity.
Yet we trust that your Spirit breathes through all creation,
inviting us not to retreat in fear,
but to step forward in faith,
to act with wisdom,
to speak with compassion,
and to co-create with you a world of equity, peace, and justice.
Help us to use our God-given gifts—unique and diverse—
in service of others,
in care for the Earth,
in pursuit of truth and love.
May we listen to the wisdom of the generations,
gather the voices of the faithful across traditions,
and seek your guidance through prayer and communion.
Holy Spirit, steady us as we discern our path.
Hold our anxiety and turn it into courage.
Remind us: there is no fear in Christ.
And send us, renewed, into the world
as agents of your grace,
for the sake of all creation.
Amen.
