It is in the sure and certain hope of resurrection to eternal life that we grieve for our dearly departed members, who we miss but we remember, and are glad for their transformation and acceptance into eternal peace.
As well as praying for one another and the family and friends of our Brothers and Sisters who have gone ahead of us to Glory, we also honour them in our worship services. With special memorial componants to the liturgy, we pay tribute, share our memories, poems, songs and pictures and together create a space which will soothe us all as we mourn.
Whenever possible we make sure that we can attend funeral services digitally, if there is capacity in the physical space to stream or Zoom us in.
We can also offer special memorial services outside of our regular worship time together, for families and friends to gather with us, particularly for those who may not be able to attend funerals or memorials in person. If this is something you believe would be life-giving for you or your loved ones, please get in touch using the contact form below.
Here is a prayer from A Prayer Book for Australia on page 713:
Loving God, you alone are the source of life. May your life-giving Spirit flow through us, And fill us with compassion, one for another. In our sorrow give us the calm of your peace. Kindle our hope, and let our grief give way to joy; Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
