During 2022 HHO was blessed to be included in the TryTank ministry experiment in VR - Web3 Abbey.
Led by one of our guest preachers Rev'd Sean Steele a group of clergy and lay people gathered for 6months in altspace VR and found that the gathered experience of being an avatar in the online space does lend itself to forming real community and having shared worship together.
At the close of the experiment in October of 2022 Holy Hermits Online, St Isidore's Texas and Web3 Abbey entered a special ministry partnership - however due to the closure of Altspace VR we are awaiting a new platform to become available for people to access using both VR and desktop equipment, before we can re-launch the worship ministry space in VR.
Although we are unable to be together in VR just at the moment, this experiment and partnership led to conversations with the The Episcopal Diocese of Texas which resulted in a new 3 year partnership with HHO for 2023-2024 which is working on some exciting new opportunities for digital mission.
