It was recently announced that The Rev’d Canon Sarah Plowman is to be consecrated Bishop on 21 June (during the Synod Eucharist) and will be appointed Bishop for the Northern Region of the diocese.
During Wasting Time with God, Sarah is going to share her journey in discerning the will of God to be consecrated Bishop.
Bishop Bill Ray will also share some of his experiences and insights as bishop.
Sarah was born in Sydney but spent her childhood and adolescence in Nambour, where she attended the Anglican Church. She attended St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School for Years 11-12 where her faith and vocation were stimulated by the prayer life of the sisters of the SSA. Following tertiary study in Applied Science (Physics), she taught Physics and Maths for several years before becoming a lay Chaplain at All Saints Anglican School. Sarah’s ministry journey began there; she was ordained priest in 2005. She served as a school chaplain in Brisbane between 2008 and 2018, which she absolutely loved; education and learning are her passion.
She has been a Canon of the Cathedral since 2014. For the past 6 years Sarah has worked as Diocesan Director of Discernment and Formation.
This event will be held in person and on Zoom and will begin with a short prayer service at 9.30am. Following that, people are encouraged to get a cup of coffee or tea and we will then join Canon Sarah and Bp Bill for discussion at 10.10am.
