Ruth has offered two versions of Psalm 23 - the NRSV - New Revised Standard Version which is in use in most Anglican Churches, as well as the KJV - The King James Version - which is the one which has travelled with Ruth all her life.

Reflecting on a long life with this psalm as a companion, Ruth offers this reflection on it's meaning for her:

"I think it's verse 4 that stands out to me:

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Offering words of comfort while walking through troubled times.

I think it might have been my Mum's favourite Psalm too, in her bible she had notes and markers on that page, which also makes it meaningful for me.

It's been with me my whole life, and it's just one of those things that stick with you I think, if you embrace it, it stays with you all the time."
