The first of our Contemplative services for the year will feature inspiration from Holy Hermit St Simeon Stylites - the original Pillar Saint.
Simoen retreated to the top of a pillar to eliminate the distractions of daily living to his prayer life. He engaged in practices of prayer in the mornings - including moving his body through a series of postures, but was still accessible to his community for conversation every afternoon. His pillar enabled him to both retreat and remain at the heart of community. A call which we honour as part of who we are at HHO.
This service will include some prayer posture practices as well as uplifting music and reflections which will encourage us to hone in on God's presence with us right where we are and reach further in our relationship with the Divine, by eliminating distractions.
